This is an older drawing I made of my characters Joe Cupid and Jill Psyche, the Furry Incarnations of Love and the Soul, based upon William-Adolphe Bouguereau's painting The Abduction of Psyche.

At the time, it was one of my best works, but there are some things I would work on more if I ever felt like redoing it. Incidentally, it's also the first time I ever drew the two in a virtually nude state. Earlier drawings of mine kept trying to find a suitable set of clothes for them, but the stereotypical diaper for Cupid just kept looking more and more ridiculous. Later drawings of mine lacked the fluttery sheets seen here but so far placed something strategically in the way.

Very accurate furry portrayal. What did you use for this (medium)?

Also, assuming Joe Cupid is a rabbit, what is Jill Psyche supposed to be?

I like furries and am proud of it. If you are not afraid to proclaim this, place this in your sig.

Thank you. I drew the figures on paper, scanned them into the computer, and colored and shaded them on the computer using the Gimp.

You're right, Cupid is a rabbit. Psyche is a wildcat with Plain Tiger butterfly wings. As for their daughter, Volupta, she was originally drawn years ago as a weasel, although I'm looking for some sort of classical or poetic reference that might equate pleasure with a mammal of some sort.

Oh, and your statue doesn't have the wings on it.

I've seen this picture a ton, but I had only seen the original once before. I looked at it, and as I was scrolling down to see what all wiki pages it was on, all the little thumbnails of it kept processing as your picture in my mind. XD

Thank you. I guess that's one way to "get onto" Wikimedia. :p I've considered making other pictures based on Bouguereau's work (some with Cupid and Psyche, some with different characters), but so far haven't progressed much beyond a few pencil drawings. Such is life, I guess.

Well, the more Bouguereaus you make the better, and I'd love to post them on Bouguereau Remastered! [link]
Please provide some larger images, and make sure they have a Creative Commons license!

Out of curiosity, just how would I contact you? While I wouldn't be surprised I may have missed it, I don't find any contact information on your website.
